A GSM/GPRS network and Wi-Fi network heterogeneity method and system. The method includes: a terminal sends an access request to a base station sub-system via GSM/GPRS; the base station sub-system receives the access request, and allocates wireless network resources to the terminal, wherein the wireless network resources include TBF resources and Wi-Fi wireless resources; the terminal receives the wireless network resources allocated by the base station sub-system, opens a Wi-Fi communication function, acquires an MAC address of the base station sub-system by monitoring a Beacon frame sent by the base station sub-system via Wi-Fi, and sends a Wi-Fi association request message to the base station sub-system, wherein the Wi-Fi association request message includes an MAC address of the terminal; and the base station sub-system completes Wi-Fi association with the terminal according to the Wi-Fi association request message, and sends to the terminal an association response message, the terminal and the base station sub-system transmitting data via Wi-Fi. The solution of the present invention not only realizes heterogeneous convergence of a GSM/GPRS network and Wi-Fi, providing a continuous high-speed data service for users, but also has a low implementation and operation cost.
