Abstract:
A neural network device comprising: a thinning unit for generating a thinned signal by converting a discrete value for an input signal to a discrete value having a smaller number of quantization levels than the number of levels of the input signal, on the basis of a predetermined threshold value; a modulation unit for generating a pulsewidth modulated signal indicating the discrete value of the thinned signal by means of the pulsewidth, by subjecting the discrete value of the thinned signal generated by the thinning unit to pulsewidth modulation; and a weighting unit that includes a neuromorphic element that outputs a weighted signal wherein the pulsewidth modulated signal has been weighted, by multiplying the pulsewidth modulated signal generated by the modulation unit by a weighting corresponding to a value of a variable characteristic.
