Provided in the present application are a new energy vehicle safety protection method and apparatus, a vehicle and a storage medium. The new energy vehicle comprises a rear axle gearbox. The new energy vehicle safety protection method comprises: detecting whether a preset abnormal condition occurs in the new energy vehicle or not, wherein the preset abnormal condition comprises at least one of a rear axle gearbox overspeed fault, a collision accident, a high-voltage interlocking fault and a rear wheel locking fault; and if it is detected that the new energy vehicle has the preset abnormal condition, generating an off-gear control instruction, and sending the off-gear control instruction to a rear axle gearbox controller, wherein the off-gear control instruction is used for instructing the rear axle gearbox controller to control the rear axle gearbox to be switched from a current gear to a neutral gear. With the invention, when the new energy vehicle has an emergency abnormal condition, the new energy vehicle can be triggered to be off gear, so that the new energy vehicle can stop running in time, preventing further vehicle accidents and the situation that the abnormal condition becomes more serious, thereby improving safety.
