Abstract:
Disclosed is an Ni-plated steel sheet which has excellent pressability. Specifically disclosed is an Ni-plated steel sheet which comprises, in a surface that forms the outer surface of a battery can, an Fe-Ni diffusion layer, a softened Ni layer formed thereon, and a semi-glossy Ni plating layer formed thereon. The amount of Ni deposit in the Fe-Ni diffusion layer and the softened Ni layer formed thereon is smaller than the amount of Ni deposit in the semi-glossy Ni plating layer, and the semi-glossy Ni plating layer has an average roughness (Ra) of 1.0-2.0 μm (inclusive) and a maximum height (Ry) of 5-20 μm (inclusive) as determined using a contact-type surface roughness measuring instrument. The amount of Ni deposit in the Fe-Ni diffusion layer and the softened Ni layer formed thereon is 5-8 g/m2, and the amount of Ni deposit in the semi-glossy Ni plating layer is not less than 8 g/m2. In addition, the semi-glossy Ni plating layer has a surface roughness (Ra') in an area of 2.5 μm × 2.5 μm of 5-22 nm as measured by an atomic force microscope.
