Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a lithium nickel cobalt aluminum oxide (LNCAO) type positive electrode active material that can offer a lithium ion battery with high per-volume discharge capacity and outstanding discharge capacity retention. [Solution] Provided is a nickel lithium metal composite oxide powder, characterized by comprising a nickel lithium metal composite oxide represented by general formula (1), LixNi1−y−zMyNzO1.7-2.2 (1), and in that the fracture strength of a secondary particle is 80 MPa or less, the density when compressed at a pressure of 192 MPa is 3.30 g/cm3 or greater, and the density when compressed at a pressure of 240 MPa is 3.46 g/cm3 or greater. Further provided is a method for manufacturing the nickel lithium metal composite oxide powder, characterized by comprising a water washing step after a sintering step for manufacturing a nickel lithium metal composite oxide powder precursor.
