Abstract:
Provided are: a nickel powder having excellent binder removal properties, wherein sinterability is improved and catalytic activity is minimized as a result of increasing a shrinkage start temperature in powder sintering to a high temperature; and a nickel powder production method. The nickel powder production method etc. for producing a nickel powder involves carrying out wet processing on raw nickel powder with a sulfur compound, said raw nickel powder being obtained by condensing the raw nickel powder from a vapor state, and then drying the nickel powder so that sulfur is included on particle surfaces in the form of a sulfur and nickel compound. The nickel powder production method is characterized by comprising: (A) a slurrying step in which raw nickel powder is mixed with water to form a slurry; (B) a sulfide adding step in which a water-soluble sulfide is added to the slurry obtained such that the sulfur content contained in a coating layer formed on particle surfaces of nickel powder to be obtained comprises 0.05 to 0.3 mass% with respect to the nickel powder as a whole; and (C) a drying step in which nickel powder from the slurry that was obtained is subjected to solid-liquid separation, and is dried in a vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere.
