Abstract:
The present invention relates to a night vision method and system for providing more forward vision information to a driver by detecting a forward vehicle, a pedestrian, an animal, etc., which are out of the field of view of the driver secured by means of a headlight during nighttime driving and cannot be seen by the eyes of the driver. A method for displaying night vision information, according to one aspect of the present invention, may comprise: a first step of obtaining thermal energy information for at least one object through a far infra-red (FIR) camera; a second step of extracting first thermal energy information satisfying a predetermined condition among the thermal energy information; a third step of extracting a vertical edge from the thermal energy information; a fourth step of extracting second thermal energy information mapped to the extracted vertical edge among the first thermal energy information; a fifth step of extracting one vertical end and other end points of the object included in the second thermal energy information; a sixth step of generating a region of interest (ROI) using the one end and the other end points; a seventh step of comparing a plurality of classifiers related to a first object to be identified with the object included in the ROI; an eighth step of extracting an ROI corresponding to at least one of the plurality of classifiers in the ROI; and a ninth step of displaying the extracted ROI through a display unit.
