Title:
NINE-BRANCHED WIND PLATFORM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/047148
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a floating unit adapted to extract energy from the wind comprising a floater exhibiting a square figure of structural elements permanently attached to nine orthogonal equidistant primary nodes each one of which supporting a wind power unit equipped with a rotor exhibiting a substantially vertical axis of turbine rotation, wherein the floater exhibits eight different main directions suitable for the efficient passage of the wind through the wind power units. The invention also relates a method to control the course of the floating unit at an interval limited by arctangent 0,5 degrees to starboard and to port of the longitudinal centre line, wherein the method comprises the steps to determine the current course, determine the current wind direction, compare each of the eight main directions with the current wind direction, determine the change of course and rotate the floating unit until the determined change of course is obtained. The invention also relates to the use of the unit and accomplishment of the method for course control to transform wind energy into electrical or mechanical or visual effect.
