Abstract:
A node device used in an optical communication system in which multiple node devices are connected by means of optical fibers, and characterized by being provided with: at least one first optical transceiver that requires a first power consumption amount when on standby; at least one second optical transceiver that requires a second power consumption amount when on standby, said second power consumption amount being greater than the first power consumption amount; and a power consumption control unit that preferentially selects, as an optical transceiver which should be sustained by the node device, a second optical transceiver that is in a quick startup standby mode in which a shorter time is required to start up from the standby state than an allowable amount of time to interrupt communication services in the optical communication system.
