Abstract:
According to the present invention, pattern-like noises in a planar section are reduced while edge sections are retained, even when the amount of noise is high. Provided is a noise reduction processing apparatus (1) provided with: an edge degree calculation means (11) for calculating an edge degree that shows the edge amount of an observation pixel, on the basis of the observation pixel and the pixels surrounding the observation pixel, for each pixel in an input image; a first direction determination means (21) for determining the direction of an edge of the observation pixel; a first filter processing means (22) for smoothing the observation pixel along the direction that is based on the first direction determination result, and outputting a first filter processing result; a second filter processing means (32) for smoothing the observation pixel at a lower low-pass effect than the first filter processing means and outputting a second filter processing result; and a synthesis means (14) for making the proportion of the first filter processing result higher at progressively higher edge degrees, making the proportion of the second filter processing result higher at progressively lower edge degrees, and synthesizing the first filter processing result and the second filter processing result.
