Prolongation of the life of a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is achieved by a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a positive electrode having a positive electrode collector and a positive electrode mixture layer formed on the positive electrode collector, and a negative electrode having a negative electrode collector and a negative electrode mixture layer formed on the negative electrode collector, wherein the positive electrode and negative electrode are laminated, the positive electrode mixture layer includes a positive electrode active substance and the negative electrode mixture layer includes a negative electrode active substance, and, in the positive electrode, the higher the temperature of a given region, the larger its content of active substance in the positive electrode mixture layer per unit area of the positive electrode collector and, in the negative electrode, the higher the temperature of a given region, the larger its content of active substance in the negative electrode mixture layer per unit area of the positive electrode collector.
