Title:
NON-AQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY CELL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/007239
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell which has a negative electrode which comprises alloy particles comprising at least two selected from the group consisting of a metal element and a semi-metal element, oxygen and nitrogen, wherein the alloy particles have a A phase being capable of electrochemically occluding and releasing lithium ions and a B phase having permeability or conductivity for lithium ions. The B phase preferably contains both oxygen and nitrogen in more amounts than the B phase. The secondary cell can be used for solving problems that the alloy is likely to be pulverized during charge discharge cycle, and as a result, a cell using the alloy shows a short cycle life and not satisfactory discharge characteristics, which are accompanied by a conventional non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell having a negative electrode comprising an alloy capable of occluding and releasing lithium.
