Abstract:
The present invention relates to an EVA-based non-expanded elastomer composition comprising an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A), an elastomeric polyolefin (B), a polyorganosiloxane (C) and at least one plasticiser (D), and optionally also comprising at least a crosslinking agent and a rubber or mixtures thereof. The above composition makes it possible to obtain a material that is highly flexible, suitably hard, highly abrasion-resistant, has a high coefficient of friction and a rubbery feel, which can be used to replace rubbers, mainly in the footwear industry, and the use of which can be expanded to other sectors in which rubber is used in a composition. It is advantageous in that less energy is used for processing, residues are reduced during processing and are recycled in the formulation itself. Vulcanised rubber residues can be ground or powdered and used as a reinforcing filler in the formulation. The present invention also describes the use of the EVA-based non-expanded elastomer composition to manufacture footwear, preferably high-performance footwear.
