Abstract:
A method for producing a non-oriented electrical steel sheet by hot-rolling a slab containing, on a mass basis, not more than 0.005% of C, 1.5 to 6.0% of Si, 0.05 to 2.0% of Mn, and 0.03 to 0.15% of P, annealing the hot-rolled steel if necessary, then cold-rolling and finish annealing the steel, and forming an insulating coat, wherein the temperature in the finish annealing process is cooled from 700ºC to 500ºC in an oxidizing atmosphere with an oxygen potential PH2O/PH2 of not less than 0.001 over 1 to 300 seconds, thereby causing segregation of P on the steel sheet surface after finish annealing. This provides a non-oriented electrical steel sheet which exhibits enhanced grain growth properties in strain relieving annealing. This allows a high strength rotor core material and a low core loss stator core material to be obtained at the same time. The steel sheet is suitably used for motor cores because the steel sheet has high strength after finish annealing and low core loss after stress relief annealing.
