Abstract:
A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is provided with a negative electrode, a positive electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte that is interposed between the negative electrode and the positive electrode, and wherein the negative electrode contains a titanium-containing oxide and the positive electrode contains a spinel-type lithium manganate and a cobalt-containing compound and/or a lithium-transition metal composite oxide having a layered rock salt structure. If A is the weight of the spinel-type lithium manganate and B is the weight of the cobalt-containing compound and/or the lithium-transition metal composite oxide having a layered rock salt structure, A and B satisfy the relational expression 0.01 ≤ B/(A + B) ≤ 0.1. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains 0.01-5% by weight of a compound in 100% by weight of the nonaqueous electrolyte, said compound being selected from the group consisting of an oxalic acid skeleton-containing organic compound, an isocyanate group-containing organic compound, a lithium salt of a sulfonic acid skeleton-containing organic compound and a succinic acid anhydride compound having a side chain with 3 or more carbon atoms. This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery exhibits excellent cycle stability by suppressing a reaction between the titanium-containing oxide surface and the electrolyte solution and being reduced in gas generation during the cycle operation.
