Abstract:
Provided is a nonionic surfactant which is environmentally friendly and has excellent surface active power (emulsifying power, solubilizing power), while being capable of stably maintaining the excellent surface active power for a long period of time. A nonionic surfactant according to the present invention contains a polyglycerol monoether represented by formula (1) (wherein ring Z represents a fused ring of an aromatic hydrocarbon ring having 6-14 carbon atoms and a three-membered to six-membered heterocyclic ring that contains an oxygen atom as a heteroatom; R1 represents a substituent bonded to the ring Z, which is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 14-25 carbon atoms, and the ring Z may have one or more substituents other than R1; and n represents an average number of monomers of glycerol, which is a number of 2-10).
