Abstract:
Provided is a nonlinear conversion processing device capable of applying nonlinear conversion processing to a light signal directly at low electric power consumption and a high speed. This nonlinear conversion processing device comprises a semiconductor laser 10 and a bias control unit 20. The semiconductor laser 10 includes a light input unit 11, which receives input light based on information to which linear conversion processing has been applied, and emits laser light by being excited by the input light received by the light input unit 11. The semiconductor laser 10 responds nonlinearly so that the output intensity of the laser light emitted from the semiconductor laser 10 in response to the input light functions as a ramp function. The bias control unit 20 controls a threshold value at which the semiconductor laser 10 is excited to emit the light.
