Abstract:

This invention provides a nonwoven fabric for artificial leather and a process for producing an artificial leather substrate in which satisfactory morphological stability is imparted to an artificial leather substrate by producing a nonwoven fabric for artificial leather from a fiber web and a woven fabric without any significant damage to a textile. The production process of a nonwoven fabric for artificial leather comprises putting a fiber web and a woven fabric on top of each other and subjecting the assembly to needle punching for interlacing and integration and is characterized in that the total barb depth (P) of barbs satisfies the following formulae: S₁ < 2P ≤ S₁/cos (D₁ × (&pgr /180)) ··· (1) S₂ < 2P ≤ S₂/cos (D₂ × (&pgr /180)) ··· (2) wherein S₁represents the diameter of warps mainly constituting the woven fabric; S₂ represents the diameter of wefts; D₁ represents the angle of barbs passed through the woven fabric to the warps; and D₂ represents the angle of the barbs to the wefts.
