Abstract:
A first terminal of a protection element of a control unit is connected to a line between a motor and a switching element, and a second terminal thereof is directly connected to a ground-side line that is common to a controller and the switching element. The protection element is provided therein with a normally-off switch consisting of a movable contact and a fixed contact. When overheating caused by the switching element reaches or exceeds a predetermined temperature, the movable contact and the fixed contact are closed to cause the first terminal and the second terminal to be short-circuited to divert an electric current to the protection element side, thereby reducing an electric current flowing to the switching element and shifting the control unit to a temperature range that is safe from the overheating caused by the switching element without stopping a cooling system.
