Abstract:
This invention provides an aromatic compound containing an amino group at its
end represented by formula (1): (1) wherein R1, R2,
R4, and R5 each independently represent a hydrogen atom
or an optionally substituted monovalent organic residue, provided that R1
and R2 together may form a ring and R1 and/or R2,
together with X, may form a ring; and R3 represents an anchor group which
can be linked to an inorganic porous material having semiconductor properties.
By virtue of the specific partial structure, the above aromatic compoud has a
broad absorption band in a visible range and can be used as photofunctional materials,
particularly sensitizing dyes for photoelectric conversion. In particular,
the use of the aromatic compound in dye-sensitized photoelectric conversion
batteries can realize the provision of photoelectric conversion batteries
having high photoelectric conversion efficiency and high stability.
