Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel compound and a composition for preventing, ameliorating, or treating fibrosis or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis comprising the compound as an active ingredient and, more particularly, to a novel compound of formula (I), which is excellent in preventing, ameliorating, or treating fibrosis, and a composition for preventing, ameliorating, or treating fibrosis or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis comprising the compound as an active ingredient. The novel compound of the present invention can control an activation of epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) by effectively controlling the expression of snail and vimentin, which are regulators of EMT, and thus can effectively prevent, ameliorate, or treat fibrosis. In addition, the novel compound of the present invention has excellent pharmacokinetic properties, so as to be rapidly delivered as a drug into a body even by oral administration, exhibits a stable effect in the body, and can be used safely without serious side effects. In addition, the novel compound of the present invention can effectively block fibrosis of hepatocytes, thereby effectively ameliorating or treating nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
