Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel cosmetic composition comprising an extract of an endolichenic fungus EL000039 isolated from Parmotrema austrosinense, or 5-hydroxymellein as an effective ingredient for ultraviolet light blocking, antioxidation, and skin whitening. The composition of the present invention has the effect of increasing ultraviolet light-blocking, antioxidation, and skin-whitening activity. In addition, an extract of the endolichenic fungus, or the compound 5-hydroxymellein isolated therefrom, according to the present invention shows neither cytotoxicity nor skin side effects and thus can be safely used in a cosmetic composition.
