Abstract:
It is intended to provide novel compounds which can be easily separated and purified after the completion of the synthesis thereof, can be obtained at a high yield and are useful as intercaltors for nucleic acid bases such as DNA and RNA constituting the double helix structure. The above object is achieved by providing novel ferrocene-type polycyclic hydrocarbon derivatives represented by the following formula (1): (1) wherein A represents a polycyclic hydrocarbon or its derivative; R?1¿ represents C¿1-3? alkyl, etc.; R?2¿ and R?3¿ represent each a group serving as an electron-donating group or an electron-attracting group in an aqueous solution; R?4¿ represents C¿1-6? alkylene; and n and m are each from 0 to 2; provided that two identical groups in a molecule are different from each other and N bonded to R?1¿ has been optionally cationized.
