Abstract:
A novel fused-ring aromatic compound which is either a fused-ring aromatic compound comprising a benzodichalcogenophenobenzodichalcogenophene (BXBX) skeleton and an aromatic ring located outside thereof or a fused-ring aromatic compound comprising a BXBX skeleton in which a benzene ring moiety is a heterocycle. This compound can be caused to have enhanced intermolecular interaction by expanding the π-electron system. Because of this, an organic-semiconductor device employing this compound as an organic semiconductor material has improved field-effect mobility. Since the compound has a small number of fused rings, it is free from drawbacks of compounds having an extremely large number of fused rings, i.e., poor solubility in solvents and poor atmospheric stability attributable to high affinity for oxygen. Therefore, this compound is suitable for use as an organic semiconductor material.
