Abstract:
Disclosed is a glycosyl donor reagent comprising a glycosyl donor compound other than a sugar nucleotide. Also disclosed is an enzyme capable of catalyzing a glycosyltransfer reaction that utilizes a glycosyl donor compound other than a sugar nucleotide. Specifically disclosed is a glycosyl donor reagent comprising a compound represented by formula (A) [wherein R1's are independently selected from a hydrogen atom, a C1-6 alkyl group, a C2-6 alkenyl group and a C2-6 alkynyl group (each of the groups may be unsubstituted or substituted by at least one group selected from a C1-6 alkyl group, a C2-6 alkenyl group, a C2-6 alkynyl group, OH, F, Cl, Br, I, CN, NO2 and SO2); n represents 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5; m represents 0 or 1; and X represents a monosaccharide that is bound via a β-bond at an anomeric carbon]. Also specifically disclosed is a glycosyltransferase capable of catalyzing a glycosyltransfer reaction that utilizes the glycosyl donor. Further specifically disclosed is a glycosyltransferase gene comprising DNA encoding the glycosyltransferase.
