Title:
NOVEL IRON-ZINC BINDING CONTROL FACTOR, AND TECHNIQUE FOR IMPROVING IRON DEFICIENCY TOLERANCE OF PLANT AND ENHANCING IRON AND ZINC ACCUMULATION IN EDIBLE PART THEREOF BY CONTROLLING EXPRESSION OF NOVEL IRON-ZINC BINDING CONTROL FACTOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/017394
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention provides: a transformant and a gene-disrupted strain which grow better in a calcareous soil than common plants and can accumulate iron and zinc in a larger amount both in a calcareous soil and in a good soil; a gene, a vector, a protein and an antibody to be used for constructing the aforesaid transformant and gene-disrupted strain; a method for constructing a plant that has improved tolerance to iron deficiency and shows enhanced iron and zinc accumulation in an edible part thereof; a composition for constructing the aforesaid plant; a kit for constructing the aforesaid plant; and a breeding method. The protein according to the present invention, which comprises one of the following amino acids (a) to (c), is characterized by being an iron-zinc binding control factor: (a) an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or 2; (b) an amino acid sequence derived from the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or 2 by deletion, substitution or addition of one to several amino acids; and (c) an amino acid sequence that has an identity of 80% or greater with the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or 2.
