Abstract:
Provided are: a liquid crystal aligning agent whereby a liquid crystal display element having excellent voltage retention properties and high-temperature and high-humidity resistance can be obtained; a liquid crystal aligning film; and a liquid crystal display element. The liquid crystal aligning agent is characterized by containing a polymer (P) having a partial structure indicated by formula (I–1) or formula (I–2). (A indicates a C1–18 (n+1)-valent hydrocarbon group or a group having –O–, –COO–, –CO– or –NHCO– between a carbon–carbon bond in a hydrocarbon group. S indicates a single bond or a C1–4 hydrocarbon group. P1 indicates a hydroxyl group protected by a thermally cleavable group. n is an integer of 1–5 and m is an integer of 1 or 2. If m is 1, R1 indicates a C1–4 hydrocarbon group. If m is 2, R1 indicates a hydrogen atom. * indicates a bond bonding to a hydrocarbon group.)
