Title:
NOVEL MICROALGAE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING BIOFUEL USING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/147046
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided are novel microalgae that grow rapidly, demonstrate resistance to contamination by other microalgae, have a high lipid content, and have at least a lipid composition that is suitable for the production of biofuel, and a method for producing biofuel using the microalgae. The microalgae belong to the genus Desmodesmus, have spiny projections and form two-cell colonies, and are characterized in that 80% or more of the fatty acids contained in the microalgae are composed of C16and C18fatty acids.
