Abstract:
The present invention relates to: a compound represented by chemical formula 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; a method for preparing the compound; and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy, comprising the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. A novel optically active benzodiazepine derivative compound of the present invention prevents degeneration of peripheral nerves by acting on Schwann cells to inhibit a neuronal axon degeneration process and dedifferentiation of Schwann cells, and thus can be effectively used for prevention or treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. In addition, a method for preparing the compound according to the present invention enables eco-friendly production of the optically active compound at a low cost without using a metal catalyst.
