Title:
NOVEL PROTEIN AND DNA THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/062998
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
It is intended to provide a novel protein having a monocarboxylic acid- or amino acid-transportation activity, a DNA encoding this protein, a method of screening a compound promoting or inhibiting the activity of the above protein, compounds obtained by the screening method, etc. More specifically, a protein having an amino acid sequence which is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 is useful as, for example, a diagnostic marker for liver diseases, diabetes, kidney diseases, metabolic acidosis, muscular diseases, spleen diseases, immunodeficiency, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases, allergic diseases, genital diseases, digestive diseases, central nerve diseases, circulatory diseases, cancer, aging, etc. The compounds promoting or inhibiting the activity of the above protein, which are obtained by the screening method with the use of the protein, are usable as, for example, preventives and remedies for the diseases as cited above.
