Title:
NOVEL USE OF PROTEIN PHOSPHATASE 1 AND PROTEIN PHOSPHATASE INHIBITOR 2
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/167296
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel use of protein phosphatase 1 and protein phosphatase inhibitor 2 associated with the prevention or treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. According to the present invention, protein phosphatase inhibitor 2 protein, which is one of inhibitors of protein phosphatase 1, a polynucleotide encoding the same or an expression vector containing the polynucleotide, can restore fragmented mitochondria exhibited in nerve cells to the normal level length of mitochondria and can inhibit nerve cell apoptosis. Therefore, protein phosphatase 1 and inhibitors of protein phosphatase 1 including protein phosphatase inhibitor 2 can be used in the prevention or treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and in the screening of a therapeutic agent thereof.
