Title:
NOVEL USE OF RAGE POLYPEPTIDE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/102410
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The object is to provide: a method for screening of a therapeutic or prophylactic agent for a disease associated with a gram-negative bacterium; a method for detection of a gram-negative bacterium; a method for collection of a gram-negative bacterium; and a therapeutic or prophylactic agent for LPS shock. Disclosed are: a method for evaluating the effectiveness of a substance of interest as a therapeutic or prophylactic agent for a disease associated with a gram-negative bacterium, based on the effect of the substance on the binding between RAGE polypeptide and lipopolysaccharide; a method for detecting a gram-negative bacterium in a sample, which comprises contacting RAGE polypeptide with the sample and determining a bacterium as a gram-negative bacterium when the bacterium is bound to RAGE polypeptide; a method for collecting a gram-negative bacterium from a sample, which comprises contacting RAGE polypeptide with the sample to cause the binding between a gram-negative bacterium contained in the sample and RAGE polypeptide; and a therapeutic or prophylactic agent for LPS shock, which comprises RAGE polypeptide.
