Abstract:
In the present invention, when a predetermined purification time t1 arrives, a purification program 70 causes a DCU 52 to execute a start procedure for issuing to a control unit 34 a start command for causing the control unit 34 to perform a purification control. By means of this start command the control unit 34 is made to execute a purification procedure wherein the current flowing to a reference pump cell 28 is changed from a reference pump current I3 to a purification pump current I4 that has been set to a larger current value than the reference pump current I3. Thus, reliability and robustness of a NOx sensor with respect to disturbances is improved without the loss of durability.
