| CLAIMS 1. A segmented nozzle tip for a tube dispenser for a flowable compound such as caulk, silicone and the like, the nozzle tip comprising a plurality of interconnectable segments, at least the first of which segments has a female threaded portion for receiving a male threaded portion of a standard tube dispenser, the segments each comprising a hollow cylindrical body portion having a lower female connecting portion and an upper male connecting portion, and an extended hollow dispensing portion arranged at the upper end of the cylindrical body portion, the dispensing portion having an opening, the upper surface of which is arranged at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the dispensing portion. 2. A nozzle tip according to claim 1 , wherein the opening of the dispensing portion of the segments have different diameters. 3. A nozzle tip according to claim 2, comprising segments having openings of 8mm, 6mm, 4mm and 2.5 mm arranged in order of increasing diameter. 4. A nozzle tip according to claim 2 or 3, wherein the various segments are color coded with a different color representing a different sized opening. 5. A nozzle tip according to one of the preceding claims wherein the connecting portions are threads. 6. A nozzle tip according to one of the preceding claims wherein the connecting portions are click connections. |
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to caulking tubes. Background:
One problem with known caulking tube nozzles is that the user himself has to make a cut on the nozzle that will give the right bead of caulk when applied. The cut is often the wrong size, and not performed at an angle that is most advantageous for applying the bead of caulk. Also, once a cut is made, the user cannot revert to a smaller opening. It is understood that the term "caulking tube" can also apply to silicone tubes and the like as well. Another problem with known nozzle tips is that the caulking or silicone inside the tip can dry out and form a plug. The user has to force an elongated object through the narrow end to dislodge this plus, but this is difficult, and can damage the tip. In order to correct the cut you will need to bye a new nozzle.
Summary of the invention
According to one aspect of the invention is provided a nozzle tip comprising a plurality of connected, removable segments. The segments each have a tip opening of a different size. According to one aspect, this opening is arranged at an advantageous angle for ease of caulk application. Preferably the tip comprises four segments with the most used widths. (, 4mm, 6mm and 8mm 2,5mm). According to yet another aspect of the invention, the segments are color-coded, and adapted to work together with already existing masking tape product in the market (CornerTape TM).
The nozzle tip according to the invention is a segmented nozzle tip for a tube dispenser for a flowable compound such as caulk, silicone and the like.Tthe nozzle tip comprises a plurality of interconnectable segments, at least the first of which segments has a female threaded portion for receiving a male threaded portion of a standard tube dispenser. The segments each comprise a hollow cylindrical body portion having a lower female threaded portion and an upper male threaded portion, and an extended hollow dispensing portion arranged at the upper end of the cylindrical body portion. The dispensing portion has an opening, the upper surface of which is arranged at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the dispensing portion.
Brief description of the drawings
Fig.l shows an overview of the 4 different nozzles mounted on a standard caulking tube. Fig 1A and IB show an optional anti-drip valve arranged between the tube and the nozzle, or integrated into the nozzle. Fig.2 shows the 2,5mm. Nozzle ready for use. Fig.3 shows the 4mm. Nozzle ready for use.
Fig.4 shows the 6mm. Nozzle ready for use.
Fig.5 shows the 8mm. Nozzle ready for use. Fig.6 shows the different width and color of the nozzle. Detailed description of the invention
The nozzle is made in such a way that it will fit any standard caulking tube. As shown in fig.l, the nozzle is screwed on to a standard caulking tube. The nozzle is mounted with the widest on the bottom getting smaller to the top. In order to create a wider bead of caulk, simply unscrew the top nozzle.
This invention will make it very easy for the user to create the right bead of caulk. In the event a dried plug is formed, the segments can be separated to aid in removing the obstruction.
Alternate embodiments
Instead of nozzle segments being connected by screw threads, they can be connected to each other by a click system which will enable the user to pull the nozzle segments from each other and simply press them together again.
