Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a nucleic acid compound represented by formula (I) or formula (II), said nucleic acid compound hardly forming a non-Watson-Crick base pair; and an oligonucleotide which comprises the nucleic acid compound and in which non-specific binding to a nucleic acid other than a target nucleic acid is diminished. The nucleic acid compound according to the present invention is characterized in that the carbonyl group at the 2-position of pyrimidine base is converted into a functional group (wherein X1 and X2 independently represent S or Se), and the 2'- and 4'-positions are crosslinked by a specific structure. The oligonucleotide according to the present invention is characterized in that thymidine and/or uridine therein are the aforesaid nucleic acid compound(s).
