Abstract:
Provided is a novel method for inhibiting myostatin. An antisense oligonucleotide having a base length of 15-30 that has a base sequence complementary to the target site of exon 1 of myostatin gene, a salt thereof or a solvate of the same, said antisense oligonucleotide being capable of suppressing the production of mRNA of myostatin gene. A medicine, a food, a feed, a drug for promoting the growth and/or enlargement of muscle cells, a drug for increasing muscle amount and/or inhibiting muscular depression, a drug for suppressing the production of mRNA of myostatin gene, and a myostatin function inhibitor, each comprising the aforesaid antisense oligonucleotide, a salt thereof or a solvate of the same.
