Abstract:
A nut feed system and method of feeding nuts through a nut feed passage which avoids contact between the feed pawl (42) and the nut bore (64). The end face (82) of the nut (32) includes a nut feed groove (100) extending perpendicular to the nut bore (64) and the free end (48) of the feed pawl (42) is received in the groove to drive the nuts (32) through a nut feed passage without contacting bore. The disclosed embodiment of the nut includes a counter bore (100) through the end face and radial channel-shaped feed grooves (92) and the feed pawl (42) includes an arcuate center portion (108) and radial portions received in the counterbore and feed grooves.
