Abstract:
This object detecting device is provided with an amplitude detecting unit (8) which detects an amplitude Ar of an ultrasound wave received by a receiving unit (2), and a frequency detecting unit (7) which detects a frequency fr of the ultrasound wave received by the receiving unit (2). When a prescribed time has elapsed after a signal generating unit (4) has begun to generate a pulse signal, the signal generating unit (4) sweeps a frequency fp of the pulse signal. After a transmitting unit (2, 3) has begun transmitting an exploratory wave, if the frequency fr after the amplitude Ar reaches a prescribed reference value or higher is changing in the same way as the frequency fp, a determining unit (11) determines that the ultrasound wave received by the receiving unit (2) is a reflected wave of the exploratory wave. If the determining unit (11) has determined that the ultrasound wave received by the receiving unit (2) is a reflected wave of the exploratory wave, a distance calculating unit (12) calculates a distance to an object on the basis of the time from when the transmitting unit (2, 3) transmitted the exploratory wave until the receiving unit (2) received the ultrasound wave.
