Abstract:
An object detection device (100) is provided with: a radar (1) which emits electromagnetic waves from a vehicle, receives propagated reflected waves resulting from reflection of the electromagnetic waves, and thereby outputs a received signal; an object detector (3) which, on the basis of the received signal, detects the positions and velocities of objects existing in an environment in which the vehicle travels; an obstacle detector (4) which detects the positions of obstacles on both sides of a route along which the vehicle travels and the separation distance, which is the distance between the obstacles; and a horizontal coverage controller (5) which controls the horizontal coverage of the radar (1) on the basis of the positions of the obstacles and the separation distance therebetween.
