Abstract:
In the present invention, an objection detection device that can be attached to a vehicle has transmitters, receivers, a measurement unit, and a determination unit. The transmitters transmit signal waves intermittently to the space surrounding a vehicle. The receivers receive waves reflected from an object. The measurement unit measures the distance to the object on the basis of the reflected waves received by the receivers. If the distance measured by the measurement unit is within a determination distance range, the determination unit determines the object to be drawing abnormally close, counts the number of times that the object was determined to be drawing abnormally close, and, when this number reaches a threshold value, determines that an abnormality has arisen in at least either the transmitters or the receivers.
