Abstract:
This object detection device includes: a signal generation unit (20) for generating a drive signal that contains an identification signal for identifying an ultrasonic wave; a transmission unit (10) for transmitting a probing wave in accordance with the drive signal; a reception unit (50) for receiving the ultrasonic wave and generating a reception signal; and a determination unit (60) for determining whether the received wave is a reflected wave of the probing wave by analyzing the frequency of the received signal. The drive signal includes a rising signal that is generated before the identification signal and is used for raising the amplitude of the probing wave. When the frequency of the rising signal is defined as fT, and the maximum frequency and the minimum frequency of the identification signal are defined as fMAX and fMIN, respectively, the frequency fT is set so as to include a frequency where the transmission efficiency of the transmission unit and/or the reception efficiency of the reception unit is greater than the transmission efficiency of the transmission unit 10 and the reception frequency of the reception unit at the frequencies fMAX, fMIN.
