Abstract:
An object detection system that comprises a plurality of object detection devices (10, 10a) that detect objects by transmitting probe waves from transceiver units (14, 14a) and using the transceiver units to acquire received waves that include waves reflected from objects in the surroundings. The frequencies of the probe waves that can be transmitted by the transceiver units have a common range. The plurality of object detection devices comprise: transmission control units (12, 12a) that, on the basis of probe waves that have frequencies within the shared range, cause any of a plurality of probe waves that have different transmission characteristics to be transmitted from the transceiver units; characteristic acquisition units (18–20) that acquire reception characteristics for received waves; and a determination unit (103) that, on the basis of the acquired reception characteristics, determines whether the received waves are reflections of probe waves that have any of the transmission characteristics.
