A bar−like object eliminator, comprising an eliminating drum (24) forming a part of a feed passage for the bar−like objects such as a cigarette, a double filter cigarette, and a filter cigarette and a large number of feed grooves (48) provided in the outer peripheral surface of the eliminating drum (24) and capable of receiving the bar−like objects in a filter cigarette manufacturing machine, the feed grooves (48) in the eliminating drum (24) adjacent to each other in the rotating direction further comprising suction holes (52) at different positions, wherein, when the feed grooves (48) pass the suction holding area (A) of the eliminating drum (24), the feed grooves (48) adjacent to each other receive the supply of a holding pressure for maintaining the suction of the bar−like objects from the corresponding holding passages (68) of the suction holding area (A) through the suction holes (52), and these holding passages (68) extend longer than a pitch between the feed grooves (48) in the peripheral direction of the eliminating drum (24) and, when receiving the supply of compressed air, allow to flow out the compressed air through the suction holes (52) so as to eliminate the bar−like objects from the feed grooves (48).
