Abstract:
For the purpose of observing a cell or other subject without labeling thereof, and without enlarging the device, the observation device (1) pertaining to the present invention is provided with: an illumination optical system (6) for emitting illumination light upward from below a sample (X); and an objective optical system (5) for capturing an image of transmitted light in a separate path from the illumination optical system (6) below the sample (X), the transmitted light being obtained from the illumination light emitted from the illumination optical system (6), reflected above the sample (X), and transmitted through the sample (X); the illumination optical system (6) being provided with a light source (6a), an illumination region restricting part (6c1) for restricting light from the light source (6a) to a specific emission region (6e1), and an illumination position varying mechanism (6c2) capable of adjusting the emission region (6e1) of the illumination region restricting part (6c1) in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis (A) of the objective optical system (5).
