Abstract:
An obstacle alert device capable of making explicit to a driver the presence of an obstacle approaching a vehicle, without causing the vicinity of the vehicle to become difficult to see, comprising: a captured image acquisition unit that obtains an image captured of the scene in the vicinity of the vehicle; a target captured image generation unit that generates a target captured image on the basis of the captured image; a masked region setting unit that sets a masked region, in the target captured image, wherein at least a section of the scene in the vicinity of the vehicle is not displayed; an object presence determination unit that determines whether or not an object is present in an outside region that is on the outside of the target captured image; and a masked region highlighting unit that highlights the masked region in the event that an object in the outside region has entered a region corresponding to the target captured image.
