Abstract:
By a disparity computation unit, first, with respect to a bottom line block of a first image, a corresponding block within a second image is found which has the same Y-coordinate as the Y-coordinate of said first image block and wherein an object appears which is the same as or similar to an object appearing within the block of the first image (S2). Next, when finding a block within the second image corresponding to a block which is upward in order from the found block of the first image and wherein an object appears which is the same as or similar to an object appearing within the block of the first image, a block is found within the second image which has the same Y-coordinate as the Y-coordinate of said first image block and wherein an object appears which is the same as or similar to an object appearing within the block of the first image in an X-coordinate setting range, the center whereof is an X-coordinate of the corresponding block in the second image which corresponds to the found block which is immediately below the block of the first image(S4). Thus, provided is an obstacle detection device whereby it is possible to simplify a process of finding an obstacle, to shorten the processing time, and to simplify a hardware configuration.
