Abstract:

The present disclosure can be applied to moving bodies such as trains, and pertains to providing an obstacle detection means based on highly precise depth information about both objects at short distances and objects at long distances. An obstacle detection device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a first depth expression generation unit that uses a parallax image generated from a first image and a second image to generate a first depth expression indicating the distance between a moving body and an object present in the vicinity of the moving body; a second depth expression generation unit that, by processing the first image through a prescribed machine learning method, generates a second depth expression indicating the distance between the moving body and the object present in the vicinity of the moving body; a third depth expression generation unit that, by combining the first depth expression and the second depth expression, compares the first depth expression and second depth expression and generates a combined depth expression that more accurately indicates the distance between the moving body and the object present in the vicinity of the moving body; and an obstacle detection unit that uses the combined depth expression to generate and output obstacle information pertaining to an obstacle in the vicinity of the moving body.
