Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a technology that can protect an occupant boarded in a vehicle. This occupant protection device, which protects the occupant boarded in the vehicle, comprises: a base part fixed to the vehicle; an action unit that can reciprocate between a first position as an initial position and a second position for suppressing the movement of the occupant when an inertial force acts on the occupant, and that is connected to the base part; and a control unit that executes movement control for causing the action unit to move from the first position to the second position. The action unit moves from the first position to the second position and then returns to the first position, and can thus move from the first position to the second position by repeated movement control. The occupant protection device further includes a mitigation means for mitigating a collision impact on the occupant with respect to the action unit when the action unit moves to the second position.
