Title:
OIL RETURN FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM EVAPORATOR USING HOT OIL AS MOTIVE FORCE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2001004551
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Oil is returned from the evaporator (18) to the oil sump (28) in a refrigeration chiller (10) by directing the lubricant-liquid refrigerant mixture (36) found in the chiller evaporator (18) into heat exchange contact with relatively hotter system lubricant as such lubricant flows from the oil sump (28) to the location of its use in the chiller's compressor (12). The oil flowing from the sump (28) to the compressor (12) rejects sufficient heat to the lubricant-liquid refrigerant mixture (36) to induce the percolation thereof, such percolation being sufficiently energetic to cause slugs of the lubricant-liquid refrigerant mixture (36) to be delivered from the location (38) of heat exchange into the chiller's lubricant sump (28) thereby effecting the return of oil from the evaporator (18) for reuse in the compressor.
