Abstract:
An oil tempered wire has a composition that includes one or more strengthening elements selected from 0.50 – 0.90% by mass C, 0.02 – 0.50% by mass V, 0.01 – 0.50% by mass Ta, 0.01 – 0.50% by mass Nb, 0.02 – 0.50% by mass Mo, and 0.02 – 1.00% by mass W, as well as 0.80 – 3.00% by mass Si, 0.40 – 1.00% by mass Mn, and 0.40 – 2.00% by mass Cr, with the remainder being Fe and impurities. The oil tempered wire is provided with a carbide that includes the strengthening element. The total content of the strengthening element in the carbide that includes the strengthening element is at least 10% in a mass proportion of the total content of the strengthening element. The average particle size of the carbide that includes the strengthening element is 30 nm or less.
